The weather really is changing and whilst we are dodging the odd snow shower, we do live in the United Kingdom after all, so it is time to consider open air motoring. There is nothing better than feeling the wind in your hair and the sound of streets and the countryside as you drive carefully by. Here then are five of the best value convertibles you can safely buy right now.

Mazda MX-5 2.0 Sport 2006, 24,000 miles £5,995

A sporty car so it is great to drive and being a Mazda is incredibly well built and reliable. You can buy from a private seller who have looked after it with a full service history and in immaculate condition.

Volkswagen EOS 1.4 TSU SE 2011 60,000 miles £6,000

Essentially a VW Golf convertible by another odd name. These were never popular and consequently are great value. Quite complicated electrical system and the metal folding roof so make sure it works.

MINI COOPER 1.6 2012 84,000 miles £5,995

Here is a fun and easy to own convertible which is around in large numbers so it is worth looking at a lot examples and finding the right one in good condition with a great service history. Niggly electrical failures and steering meeds to be checked.
