Vauxhall Reliability
Despite the brands enduring popularity in the UK, Vauxhall hasn’t always had a particularly great reputation for reliability, often lagging far behind Japanese competitors like Honda and Toyota in reliability surveys and owner feedback. But, in recent years the British face of Opel has begun to fight back against that poor reputation with a succession of commendable survey results, notably the Vauxhall Insignia scooping second place in What Car’s most reliable executive car survey.
Regrettably, our recent study, which analysed 47,000 warranty policies over a two and half year period, didn’t confirm the upward trend. Vauxhall finished 28th out of 33 manufacturers scoring an underwhelming 3.8 out of 5. Though Vauxhall repairs were on the whole cheaper than average a disappointingly high frequency of failure score (73%) placed the manufacturer among the UK’s least reliable.

How reliable are Vauxhall’s top models?
Corsa
The ever-popular Corsa has certainly stood the test of time and there’s no denying that Vauxhall’s flagship supermini is a solid cost-effective option. Its reliability survey results are ok but someway short of best in field territory. The Corsa’s Reliability Index score is reasonably good while the 2018 Driver Power survey placed it 67th out of all the cars currently on sale in the UK.
Insignia
Very mixed results for Vauxhall’s large family hatchback. On the one hand it came in second in What Car’s most reliable executive car survey, on the other, its performance in other surveys is patchy. It has a higher than average Reliability Index rating (indicating worse than average reliability) and has often performed poorly in the Driver Power survey.
