We’ve had a spectacular summer and whatever the weather has in store for us this autumn there are plenty of great events to enjoy. Not only will you have fun singing, dancing and eating, it'll be nothing less than an interesting drive to get there. So here's our shortlist for making 2018 even more memorable.

September Event 1: Festival No 6

Taking place between the 6th and 9th of September the best reason to go is that this multi award-winning music, arts and culture festival takes place in a picturesque village on the coast of Wales called Portmeirion, which featured in the cult ‘60s TV show ‘The Prisoner’.

On top of a decent mix of rock, pop, hip-hop and dance acts, Festival No 6 also features comedy, literature and art. We're excited by ‘80s thinking pop The The, and indie-pop legends Franz Ferdinand. Located in North Wales, the A487 will finally get you there, but make sure your car is ready for the journey with our guide.

September Event 2: Tour of Britain

Everyone is looking forward to this bike race between the 2nd and 9th September, on the most challenging roads in England and Wales. The question is where will you get the best views?

Well, it starts in Pembrey Country Park, Wales before finishing a week later in London. Many think that when it comes to the Cotswolds countryside on the 9th it will be in some of the most picturesque locations.

Racing through this area's iconic towns and villages including, Charlbury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh and Winchcombe, before descending down Cleeve Hill then cycling at speed into Cheltenham for the finish line on Cheltenham’s classic Promenade.

September Event 3: Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival

Holmfirth’s Food and Drink Festival returns for the 13th year between on the 29th and 30th September. A fabulous food market is open each day with stalls throughout the town, offering a range of delicious treats, which is all very mouth watering.

They've got a new partnership with fairandfunky who are transforming the Market Hall into a showcase for local, Fairtrade and ethical businesses. There's also live music. What a wonderful excuse to drive to the Yorkshire Pennines. The A6024 gets you there.

September Event 4: North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Yorkshire is always a great place to be and if you love classic transportation in general and trains in particular, then the only place to be between the 28th and 30th September is the at North Yorkshire Moors Railway and their Annual Steam Gala.

Luckily for any visitors, this weekend also includes the Gala Beer Festival, which is located at Levisham and Goathland stations, make sure you've booked somewhere to stay to take full advantage of this.

These are just a fraction of the events being held around the country this autumn and getting there's half the fun. Have a safe journey and tell us where you've been and where you're going, as the days get shorter.
